You Suggest: new SSPX U.S. seminary update and request

A reader passed this along:

While other seminaries are for the most part being shut down or consolidated, the Priestly Fraternity of St. Pius X in the United States has a different kind of problem on its hands. They have outgrown their past two seminary buildings.

Although cramped, the current seminary building in Minnesota will continue to house seminarians until the new seminary project in Virginia is complete. Once the seminary moves east, the American District of the SSPX will begin to use the previous seminary building as another facility for an institution of traditional Catholic education. However, having been built in the 1950’s, the current building is due for some major repairs before it takes on a new role when it is passed off to the District. inners need not be present to win).

Consequently, the Mercedes-Benz giveaway fundraising effort is underway. Donate today and enter the fundraiser for a chance to win a shiny Mercedes-Benz. There is not much time left as the drawing will be held on ordinations day June 13, 2015 @ St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary in Winona MN (winners need not be present to win).

Meanwhile the new seminary project has made tremendous progress since its inception in 2011. The core and shell are due to be complete in the next week or so. The roof is being installed and discussion about the interior is beginning to be considered much more seriously now. While the progress is impressive, the building is far from finished.

Generous donations are still needed to complete the project. Please click here to contribute.
